If your students are learning to create interviews, you are probably seeking a uniform way to assess them. This lesson provides you with a rubric you can modify to make your own. Why Use an Interview Rubric?
There are so many different reasons you might be teaching your students to do interviews. Perhaps you are preparing them to conduct interview-based research, or maybe you want them to get ready to interact with a guest speaker.
Interviews can also be helpful if you are teaching students to get to know one another better or if you are preparing them to think about being interviewed themselves, whether for further educational opportunities or for future employment.
In any case, when you teach your students about interviewing, you want to have some sort of metric for assessing them. One excellent tool is a rubric.
Rubrics are helpful because they provide clear expectations organized into different categories that you think are important facets of the skill at hand.
If you give your students a rubric in advance of their work, they will have a solid understanding of exactly what you hope they will learn and be able to do at the end of a given assignment.
Furthermore, rubrics are quite standardized and allow you to be fair in your assessment, holding all students to the same expectations.
Of course, you may choose different categories for your own version of your rubric or modify the expectations to meet your needs and those of your students.
Think about what is both realistic and challenging when you make this rubric your own. Interview Rubric Preparation 4- The interview was extremely well prepared, with all questions written in advance and a plan for how to redirect the subject if the conversation went astray.
